Leaders come in all shapes and sizes. I’ve worked with a lot of them, some that left me awe-inspired and others … not so much. While leadership development programs abound, too many are generic and impersonal. Instead, finding your unique formula for leadership is up to you and whatever mentors you can cobble together. Though we pretend otherwise, work and life are not so separable. Who I am as a leader, strategist and speaker is informed by who I am as a woman, mother and hobbyist. Personal hardships and, less frequently, victories, provide the impetus for reflection on who we are and who we want to be. The best leaders bring all of that — all of themselves — to the table.
